Annie Burrows is an artist based in Sussex whose practice centres around drawing. Using the body as a starting point Annie's practice is based on a drawing process that expands into print. She re-presents the body to reveal the quiet beauty that sits close to the abject whilst acknowledging diverse feelings we may have about our bodies. This in turn suggests rich and complex tensions between the notions of beauty and revulsion. Her recent work focuses on the idea that our skin reflects experience and history and brings together drawings of the lines traced on skin with observational drawings from life, then extending the process to create an intaglio print.
